Judge Spanks FEC -- Again
As if saying "what part of No don't you understand?" US judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly refused to stay her previous opinion that ordered the FEC to strengthen some of its definitions and campaign finance regulations. See Ned's post here on the judges previous order. Sharon Theimer of AP has a story on her recent action here. The full decision is here.
My favorite line of the judge's is: "The court declines to stamp the commission's 'business-as-usual' tactics and request for delay with the judicial imprimatur of approval. Rather, the Court concludes that the FEC has failed to meet the stringent standards required to justify the extraordinary remedy of a stay pending appeal and therefore shall deny the Commission’s motion."
