San Mateo County Considers $250 Contribution Limits
A city councilor is pushing to limit contributions to $250 and limit candidate self-loans to no more than $15,000 in San Mateo California. This is based on a successful law in neighboring Belmont that set limits at $100.
"You don't want an election to be bought," says Councilor Sue Lempert. She says that big money is a turnoff for voters and for qualified people who might otherwise run for office.
