Former state Rep. Dan Doyle pleaded guilty today to charges of filing false campaign reports. Doyle had diverted as much as $150,000 in campaign funds for his own personal use.
His wife also pleaded guilty to a similar charge stemming from her unsuccessful bid for county clerk of Marion County.
The Doyles' troubles may provide the impetus for serious campaign finance reform in Oregon, although the state legislature has to date only offered weak reform proposals.
