As Rob Moritz of the Arkansas News Service reports, the Arkansas Ethics Commission recently passed regulations reflecting the legislature's doubling of Arkansas's limits on campaign contributions to candidates during this year's legislative session. Candidates will now be able to take $2,000 from wealthy contributors, instead of just $1,000.
When we reported back in January that the party chairmen in Arkansas were trying to get the legislature to raise contribution limits, we said that a doubled limit was "designed to push control of our government even further into the hands of the tiny fraction of wealthy interests that can afford to give thousands to candidates they like." It still is.
