Senator Bunning Is Too Busy Running For Office to Run For Office

In a story by Jim Loftus in the Louisville Courier Journal, Kentucky Senator Jim Bunning responds to a question about debating his opponent:
I don't have any time to debate Sen. Mongiardo. I have a campaign to run, and I'm trying to do that to the best of my ability.

"Run" being the operative word.

Perhaps Bunning is taking his cues from fellow Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell, whose legendary disdain for democracy extends to letting rich folks dominate our elections. In the warped world of McConnell and Bunning, politicians don't need to debate the issues or reach out to their constituents - they just need to court rich donors.

Bunning's fundraising supports this notion, as out-of-staters ponied up half of his record-setting campaign warchest.

C'mon Jim. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the election.
